Internship Overview:
Child and Family Focus is looking for interns for our Outpatient Office Assistance Program for Summer/Fall 2026! We provide a robust internship program where you will gain valuable experience in the mental health and behavioral health field. We require that you are receiving course/credit hours to intern with Child and Family Focus. We will partner with your university in fulfill any internship or practicum requirements.
Child and Family Focus's Psychiatric Outpatient Program is an office based, trauma informed program, providing comprehensive outpatient treatment for children & adolescents (ages 3-18) and transitional aged adults (ages 18-26).
Internship Summary:
Interning under the Outpatient Office Administrative Coordinator to assist in the coordination of services and oversee the workflow regarding all functions of the outpatient front office in Hatboro, PA. As an intern you can expect to:
- Greet, assist and direct all clients and visitors
- Check for co-pays and consents that need to be signed
- Assign documents in fax queue
- Call clients and families as requested
- Respond to all incoming reception desk telephone calls, including the scheduling of intake assessments appointments and initial psychiatric evaluations
- Provide support/assistance to the psychiatrist on assigned client days including vital screenings and schedule management
- Ensure client charts are in compliance with program regulations and agency standards
- Collect and manage copays for clients with commercial insurance plans and document as needed
- Track administrative responsibilities for therapists (treatment plans, releases/consents, etc)
- Coordinate and assist with client pharmacological needs (call pharmacies, etc)
- Take referrals for therapy and medication management
- Notify therapists of cancellations and messages via email
- Complete new client charts, intake packets, spreadsheets and additions to electronic medical systems
- Prep consent/release packets for clients who will be expiring the month prior to expiration
- Write encounters and pull charts for therapists and all other psychiatric staff the day before the appointment
- Update consent and release spreadsheet to ensure that it is up to date and add new patients once scheduled
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and currently enrolled in a university bachelors level program
- Current child abuse, criminal and FBI clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks & attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
